Cancer Advocacy Movement for Colleges & Outreach
CAMCO is a campaign designed to educate university and college students about the importance of cancer prevention, early detection and how they can help someone who has been stricken with cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, cancer will strike 1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women in the U.S. at some time in their lives. Texas has 1.2 million university and college students, most of whom know little about cancer prevention and are, therefore, a prime target population for cancer information and services.
Texas schools and communities must engage university and college students directly to educate them about cancer prevention and early detection and then deploy the students as vital “multiplier effects” in their local communities.
CAMCO has registered 14, 696 in its 4 years.
