Replenish Community Supplies

Mobile drives cancelled for Saturday, September 24th.

(September 23, 2005, San Antonio) – The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) is asking all eligible donors to donate as quickly as possible. STBTC has already sent blood units to the Houston area and remains on stand-by as the primary resource of blood components for the affected coastal area. Donors are needed this weekend and throughout the coming week to supply blood for local patients, any in-coming evacuees and those who could not be evacuated from the affected area.

South Texas Blood & Tissue Center will be open on Saturday, September 24 at two San Antonio locations.  Headquarters (6211 IH10 West) and Northeast (8527 Village Dr., Suite 106) will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To facilitate the donation process please call 210-731-5555 to make an appointment.  For safety reasons, all STBTC mobile drives have been cancelled for Saturday, September 24th, leading to a projected loss of 400 units.

Since the need for blood is ongoing, businesses and organizations wanting to host a drive can contact our recruitment department to best facilitate the needs of patients. Please call 210-731-5555. Anyone 17 years of age weighing at least 110 pounds and in good general health may donate blood.  Donors must present photo identification.
